GILCHRIST

Let 2021 Be the Year of Hope

February 12, 2021, Counseling & Support, Gilchrist, Grief

In March 2020, Gilchrist shifted to virtual grief services so that we could safely serve our community. We will continue to provide our services virtually, monitor the situation and adapt our care as appropriate. Your health and wellbeing are our priorities.

As we make our way through the beginning months of 2021, the Gilchrist Grief Services team wants our community to know that we are here for you. We faced great pain and loss with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Many lives were lost, and we have all become intimately familiar with what it means to feel lonely and socially isolated.

As always, Gilchrist provides an array of grief services to the community. You can go to our website to download our brochure or register to learn more about our services.  (https://gilchristcares.org/grief-registration/). You can also call our Care Navigation line at 888.823.8880 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. to speak with someone live.

Virtual Grief Services

Our services are virtual and available to everyone in our community:

  • Individual Grief Counseling: Our master’s prepared staff provide short-term grief counseling to individuals and families.
  • Support Groups: Trained facilitators lead support groups either in a six-week or drop-in format to those who have experienced a similar loss. Support groups allow people to connect, grieve and heal with others who have been in their shoes. The connections you build in such a group often last far beyond the six-week timeframe. Support group topics include but are not limited to Loss of a Spouse, Loss of a Parent, Loss of a Child, and Men’s Group.
  • Workshops: Counselors and trained facilitators lead single sessions designed to heal and educate about grief. Workshops include yoga and breath work, memory making, journaling, help with the holidays, and more.
  • Special Events: Gilchrist offers several annual events that allow the community to come together to honor their loved ones lost: Twilight in the Woods (early winter); Wellness Day (fall); Honoring the Women in Our Lives (spring) and Steps of Hope (early summer)

Let us walk with you.

Sincerely,

Robin Contino on behalf of the Gilchrist Grief Department
