Grateful for Gilchrist
Thank you to our hosts and everyone who supported our inaugural Grateful for Gilchrist event
Our first Grateful for Gilchrist event was hosted by Steve Wecker, 2019 Maryland Restaurateur of the Year, and business partner, Vince Culotta, at their restaurant Cured / 18th & 21st in downtown Columbia. Over 80 guests enjoyed signature cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and jazz piano in the popular speakeasy. The fundraiser highlighted Steve’s personal story of how Gilchrist cared for his father, and welcomed a number of grateful families who had similar stories to share. The event was also an opportunity to promote Gilchrist Center Howard County’s annual fundraiser, Taste of Howard County, scheduled for October 20, 2019.
The funds raised money for Gilchrist’s inpatient hospice unit located in Howard County. The center offers care for individuals with pain and symptoms that cannot be managed at home or in a residential community, and also those unable to remain in their homes. It is staffed by physicians, nurses, hospice aides, social workers, chaplains and volunteers, and offers round-the-clock care.
Gilchrist Center Howard County is designed to offer the comforts of home. The colors are warm and bright, with beautiful décor to create a tranquil, home-like feel in rooms and in common spaces where families can gather. Loved ones may visit any time of day or night.
