Executive Management

Ms. Hamel has over 35 years’ experience leading healthcare organizations. She joined Gilchrist in 2008 as Chief Operating Officer, became its Executive Director in 2010 and was named President in 2015.  Gilchrist is the largest provider of serious illness, hospice and palliative care services in Maryland, serving over 26,000 patients annually.  During her tenure, the organization was awarded the prestigious Circle of Life Award by the American Hospital Association, and she served on the health system’s leadership team that won the Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award in 2019.  Ms. Hamel also serves as the health system’s Chief Strategy Officer.

Prior to her work at Gilchrist, Ms. Hamel served on the founding leadership team for a local home infusion company that was acquired by a national market leader.  She led the Managed Care Strategy for Columbia-HCA nationally.  Ms. Hamel serves on various community boards including community-based organizations and industry trade associations.  Ms. Hamel received her bachelor’s degree from Temple University and her master’s in the Management of Aging Services from University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

Dr. Gloth has more than 25 years of leadership as a physician executive. Most recently, he was Chief Medical Officer of ProMedica Senior Care (formerly HCR ManorCare/Heartland) where he provided national medical leadership and practice management for their skilled nursing, hospice, palliative care, home care and assisted living operations for over 16 years. Prior to that, he was Chair of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Union Memorial Hospital, a Regional Medical Director for National Rehabilitation Hospital in D.C., and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Medical and Rehabilitation at Johns Hopkins.

As CMO, Dr. Gloth provides medical leadership for Gilchrist’s geriatric, palliative, hospice and medical director services in homes, senior living communities, transitional or residential hospice centers, offices and hospitals throughout Central Maryland.

Leana has more than 25 years of healthcare executive experience. Since joining Gilchrist in 2014, she served as a Nursing Home Administrator, Director of Geriatric Services, and Chief Integration Officer, facilitating work between healthcare systems and Gilchrist to bridge care continuums and transitions for patients needing end-of-life services. Her associated efforts have contributed to the successful joint venture between Luminis Health and Gilchrist. As COO, Leana works to strengthen Gilchrist’s individual programs and assist with the cross-continuum movement for patients and families to extend and enhance their care experience across the organization.

Elizabeth has more than 30 years of leadership experience in financial healthcare management, with over 20 years as CFO. She joined Gilchrist in 2022, with extensive experience in all aspects of financial health system management, including financial statements, payroll, accounts payables, purchasing, billing/collections, Medicare and Medicaid regulatory requirements, reimbursement, and compliance. As CFO, she leads Gilchrist’s financial reporting, budgeting, investment management, purchasing, accounts payable and payroll. She oversees the finance team as well as the IT department to ensure systems support the organization’s business and clinical needs.

After 10 years as an ICU nurse, Nicole transitioned to hospice and began a rich career at Hospice of Palm Beach County. In 2012, Nicole joined Gilchrist as a hospice clinical team manager until 2014. Since rejoining Gilchrist in 2015, she has served as a Liaison Manager, Associate Clinical Director of Access, and Director of Access. As Chief Access Officer, Nicole leads Access and Business Development efforts for all Gilchrist service lines.
