Community Education for
Groups and Organizations
Gilchrist’s expert staff and volunteers are available to speak in the community. Generally, speaking topics range from elder care and end-of-life to advance care planning and coping with grief. Because of our wide selection of topics, speakers can present to any type of group or organization. Furthermore, all of our community education programs are free.
Speaking topics include:
- How Hospice Can Help
- Advance Planning: How to Make Your Final Wishes Known
- Tips to Care for the Caregiver
- Caring for the Sick and Dying
- Coping With the Holidays When You Are Grieving
- Learning to Cope With Loss
- Understanding Grief
- Helping a Friend Who Is Grieving
- How to Help a Grieving Child
In addition to our expert staff, Gilchrist has volunteer Ambassadors who educate the public. Because of their special training, volunteers represent Gilchrist in the community and speak to groups about various topics. For instance, they may explain the concept of hospice. Likewise, they may speak about how to have difficult talks about end-of-life care. While it may be hard to discuss, another popular topic is why you should create a living will and an advance directive. Staff and volunteers can also talk about how Gilchrist’s programs and services may help. Furthermore, they can share how volunteers help our patients.
Because these speaking events are free and cover many topics, they can be presented to many different groups and organizations. For example, Gilchrist has presented to senior centers, nursing homes, faith groups, and more. In addition, corporate lunch and learns are popular.
