Support Gilchrists’s Music Therapy Program This Giving Tuesday
Today, Giving Tuesday, we highlight the 10-year anniversary of Gilchrist’s Music Therapy program and ask you to support this incredible program which is only made possible through community philanthropic support.
When Gilchrist’s first music therapist, Lacy Kidwell, was hired by Gilchrist 10 years ago, no one could have imagined what this program would become. The organization is proud that with just 3 full-time music therapists and a robust training program, we provide care to hundreds of patients and families, wherever they call home, using music to bring comfort and joy.
Most often, the success of this work is captured when a family member remembers music therapy as a standout memory of the hospice experience. Someone may say, “you played and sang for us a few years ago, as my father was dying, and now, we need you again now that our mother is a patient.” It is truly an honor to hear these types of stories. Despite these types of sentiments, this program remains one that is not reimbursed and so we need your help.
After 10 years, there have been countless patients and families served, miles driven, funerals performed, visits completed, funds raised, students supervised and progress documented. Music, in its most basic form, continues to unite people and bring great comfort. Happy 10-year anniversary to the Gilchrist Music Therapy program. Today, please support this work with a contribution that will help ensure we can continue providing this service for 10 more years and beyond. We could not do it without the generosity of the community.
