Why I Support Gilchrist’s Taste of Howard County
It is my honor to support Gilchrist’s 2019 Taste of Howard County this year as event co-chair. As President and co-owner of the Harry H. Witzke’s Family Funeral Home in Ellicott City, I have been touched by hospice both personally and professionally. Working closely with Gilchrist to serve the community in such a special way has been an intricate part of my career in funeral service for the past 26 years.
Our family has also been touched by Gilchrist when we needed them most, at the end of my parents’ lives. The care and compassion Gilchrist gave to me and my family was much appreciated. Everyone on our Gilchrist hospice team was kind and knowledgeable, guiding us through the process of saying goodbye and providing comfort for both my parents and our family.
I have served on the steering committee for Taste for most of my career and have marveled each year at the dedication and hard work that goes into making the evening so special and successful. This year we will “Go All In For Gilchrist” to raise funds and support for those in our community who need hospice care for their families.
Please consider joining us at this fun-filled event on Sunday, October 20, 2019, at Turf Valley Resort, with over 20 restaurateurs and caterers featuring their best items for tasting. There will be gorgeous gift baskets to win, casino games to play and live auction items to win, all to benefit Gilchrist Center Howard County. We are blessed to have such a wonderful inpatient hospice center in Columbia to serve all those in need.
Thank you to all the members on the committee and Gilchrist staff who have worked so hard to bring this event together. And thank you to all those who have contributed or will contribute to Gilchrist by giving their time, talent and support. It certainly takes a small village of volunteers to “Go All In For Gilchrist”!
I hope to see you in October!
