COVID-19 Vaccinations in Maryland
COVID-19 vaccines are approved by America’s leading medical experts and are highly effective at preventing COVID-19 illness. Getting vaccinated is critical to keeping you, your family, your friends, and your community healthy and safe.
Maryland is currently distributing vaccines to different priority groups in order of relative risk. All adults age 75 and older are currently eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in Maryland. Individuals living in assisted living, group homes, and other congregate facilities are also eligible for the vaccine. According to the Maryland vaccination plan, beginning January 25, 2021, adults age 65 and older will be eligible to receive the vaccine.
After these groups are vaccinated, the vaccine will be rolled out to additional priority groups, including adults age 16–64 at increased risk of severe COVID-19 illness due to comorbidities.
Once you become eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccination, go to covidvax.maryland.gov and enter your address, ZIP code or location to find a vaccination clinic near you and make an appointment.
Residents of Baltimore County, Maryland may also visit baltimorecountymd.gov/covid-19/vaccines to register to be contacted once you are eligible and when vaccines become available. Beginning on January 25, the state of Maryland is also launching a pilot program to make COVID-19 vaccines available at select Walmart and Giant Food stores. Please visit marylandvax.org for more information and to find a vaccination center near you.
We encourage Gilchrist hospice patients who can get to a vaccination site to schedule an appointment and receive the vaccine when they are eligible. If you have elderly loved ones, friends, or neighbors, encourage them to get vaccinated and help them make a plan.
The solution to ending this pandemic is vigilance and vaccines. Please continue to wear masks and maintain social distancing, even if you have received the vaccine.
Stay safe and be well.
