Gilchrist Celebrates Exceptional Nurses During National Nurses Week
Each year, National Nurses Week, May 6-12, honors all those exceptional nurses who serve as living legacies of Florence Nightingale’s groundbreaking work to transform nursing into the evidence-based, data-informed, compassion-infused profession we know today.
Here at Gilchrist, we will celebrate our nurses at the third annual GBMC Art of Nursing Awards Celebration on Friday, May 11. Those who’ve previously attended this event know what a meaningful and fun-filled evening is in store. Each year, the Art of Nursing Committee creates a celebration that honors the dedication, compassion and achievements of exceptional nursing staff. This year’s celebration will highlight the future of nursing.
I’m proud to say that Gilchrist has been well represented as nominees, finalists and winners in previous years, and this year we have 12 individual nominations as well as the entire Gilchrist Center Baltimore team (31) out of 227 nominations overall. Congratulations to all of our outstanding nominees who are exceptional nurses, and thank you to those who nominated them.
The Art of Nursing began in 2016 as a part of GBMC HealthCare’s mission to elevate, celebrate and develop nursing excellence. The program recognizes nursing staff at GBMC and Gilchrist who exemplify and embody the fundamental elements of the art of nursing in eight categories:
- Diversity in Nursing
- Nurse Clinician of the Year
- H. Norman Baetjer Nursing Graduate Award
- Clinical Assistant Support Award for Outpatient
- Clinical Assistant Support Award for Inpatient
- Evidence-Based Practice Award
- Patient and Family Centered Care Award
- Nurse Leader Award
