Gilchrist Presents: All You Need Is Love… And Music Therapy

February 25, 2025, Gilchrist, Music Therapy

Gilchrist’s “All You Need Is Love… And Music Therapy” will take place on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Monastery located at 3801 Old Frederick Road in Baltimore, MD 21229. This year’s concert will highlight our music therapy team and featured guest, The Bel Air Community Band Jazz Ensemble.

It’s an opportunity to honor the lives of our patients and families through the healing power of music while raising support for a vital program that relies entirely on donations to continue its work.

“Music therapy, combined with the medical attention and interventions of the hospice team, can help improve quality of life by relieving symptoms and addressing needs related to the end of life. Many people are not aware that music therapy does not receive direct reimbursement for services provided. The work of music therapy is 100% funded through the generosity of our donors,” says Lacy Kidwell, Gilchrist Music Therapy Program Manager.

The proceeds from this event will directly support Gilchrist’s music therapy team, ensuring that more patients and families can experience the comfort and connection that music provides. “As one family member shared, ‘I couldn’t imagine hospice without music therapy.’ All the proceeds from this event help continue funding the necessary work of our music therapy team in providing comfort, support, and joy to our patients and families through music,” Lacy shares.

Music therapy is an integral part of holistic hospice care, offering relief and emotional expression through evidence-based musical interventions. At Gilchrist, our board-certified music therapists use live music, songwriting, and recording sessions to meet the social, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of patients and their families. Studies show that music therapy can reduce pain, ease anxiety, and enhance overall well-being, making it an invaluable part of the care we provide.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and the support of Gilchrist, the music therapy program has grown to include three full-time board-certified music therapists. Their work brings moments of joy and peace to patients and families during some of life’s most challenging times.

We hope you will join us for this meaningful event to celebrate and support the power of music therapy. Your attendance and contributions will help sustain this essential program and ensure that more families can experience the profound comfort that music provides.
